Bathymetric surveys are routinely carried
out using the Subsea Visualisation System, covering nearshore
zones out to oceanic depths (0 - 2500m+).
The choice of sonar frequency is dependent on water depth range
for any particular site, but the emphasis is on obtaining the
highest resolution data possible. SVS3 offers the choice of 240kHz,
80kHz or 27kHz. All transducers provide electronic beam steering
capability and can be used for real time monitoring purposes (dredging,
rock-dumping, etc.).
The system can be deployed from a wide variety of vessels of opportunity
– from small survey launches to large construction vessels.
Various installation methods are possible – overside, moonpool
(including cursor glide), and mid-water platforms.
The 240kHz system can also be installed on ROVs and AUVs
